Held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Executive Council, the UAE Maritime Week 2019 was set to promote the UAE’s global status as a first-class maritime destination and highlight Dubai’s position as the maritime gateway for global trade.
Hosted by the Dubai Maritime City Authority (DMCA), UAE Maritime Week highlights the local maritime sector’s achievements on the international stage, and will once again provide a unified platform to tackle the maritime industry’s future backed by innovation, knowledge and smart transformation.
Following on the announcement to make UAE Maritime Week an annual event, H.E. Sultan Ahmed bin Sulayem, Chairman of the Dubai Maritime City Authority (DMCA), said: “The decision to organise the UAE Maritime Week every year instead of every two years represents an important step towards promoting Dubai and the UAE’s successful maritime experience on the global stage.
We look forward to hosting the event annually in a strong push towards unifying international efforts for the maritime industry’s advancement. We will base our efforts on clear mechanisms to stimulate maritime innovation, enhance human investment, develop infrastructure, strengthen legislative and legal systems, and keep up with the rapid technological developments in the 21st century.”
This year's UAE Maritime Week strategic focus was on maritime commerce and trade. The Week featured a series of world-class events such as Dubai Maritime Agenda 2019; the Seatrade Maritime Awards Middle East, Indian Subcontinent & Africa; Seatrade Offshore Marine & Workboats exhibition and conference; Seatrade ShipTech Middle East; and Marine Insurance Conference.
